Classification of air-conditioning compressors
The vehicle's air conditioning can be divided into two simple groups: automatic and manual.
As far as air conditioning goes, we distinguish the following elements:
- Dehumidifier (air conditioning filter)
- Expansion valve
In other words, the air conditioning compressor (climacompressor) is a pump whose task is to compress the refrigerant in the air conditioning system. The compressor is connected by drive to the vehicle engine. The drive is usually transmitted via a V-belt, which then moves the pistons in the compressor. This creates pressure in the system. There are three groups of compressors: piston, rotary and screw. The air-conditioning system has two circuits: high pressure, ie HP and low pressure, ie LP.
Causes of climacompressor disorders
The most common failure of the climate-compressor is its seizure. When seized, the compressor does not switch. A side effect, if you still manage to switch the compressor on, is belt squeak because of its slip. Another side effect, if the compressor still closes, is the belt whistle due to slipping.
In most cases, seizure is caused by poor internal lubrication of the compressor due to refrigerant leakage.
Refrigerant leakage points:
- at pipe and hose connections
- compressor shaft seal.
Impurities in the air conditioning circuit may cause the hoses to narrow, causing limited oil flow, which subsequently leads to insufficient lubrication of the climate-compressor itself, which is guaranteed to be damaged.
When should the climate compressor be replaced?
Replacement of the compressor is necessary in case of coolant leakage or if the compressor does not generate sufficient pressure due to internal damage to pistons, cylinders, and other internal components. This damage can be detected by regular car servis stations using diagnostics.
Poor cooling can also be caused by a number of factors other than compressor damage. We should not replace the air conditioning compressor until we have verified that it is damaged. Other causes of poor cooling include:
- lack of refrigerant in the circuit
- high oil level
- system aeration
- reduced capacitor throughput
- the fans are faulty
The functionality of the compressor can also be limited by sensors that are present in modern cars with automatic temperature control
We remanufacture climate compressors of practically all manufacturers:
Zexel, SandenHarrison, Calsonic, Denso, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Seiko-Seiki, York.
